A Unique Range of Products
ECOS paints and varnishes are a completely unique range of decorative finishes. It's the only range of totally solvent-free paints and varnishes available anywhere in the world today and has been independently tested to reveal 0.0% VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).
VOCs are a major contributor to low-level atmospheric pollution and the use of these compounds leads to global warming. In addition, the use of solvent-based paints is a major cause of Sick Building Syndrome, Danish Painter's Syndrome, Asthma, Allergies, Chemical Sensitivities and the general Flu-like symptoms reported by many people using conventional paints INCLUDING Matt and Silk wall paints!
Most paints currently on sale, both gloss and emulsion, contain solvents and VOCs. ECOS paints contain none.
As a result they are ideal for children's bedrooms, nurseries, kitchens and anywhere in the home, especially if you or a member of your family is chemically sensitive or suffers from asthma or allergies.
Using ECOS paints means that rooms are safe and pleasant to live in-play in-sleep in-eat in!

Ecos Nursery Paint
white and 108 colours
Ecos Nursery Paint has been specially formulated for super-toughness and extra washability to withstand the inevitable multiple repeated cleanings that will be encountered in a nursery environment.
It has also been independently laboratory-tested* to the EU Toys Regulations std EN71:3 for freedom from heavy metals and far surpasses these stringent regulations - there is no better standard: see attached certificate 71971.
Where to use: super-washable multi-surface satin finish specially for Nurseries & Children’s rooms: for walls, ceilings, woodwork & metal including cots, beds, toys, melamine, radiators etc, (not floors). Not ideally suited for use directly onto lining paper - prime with one coat of Soft Sheen first. Bare hardwood - ask for advice.
Coverage: 65m2 /5L/coat.
Wall Primer (white)
white only
for sealing Interior bare plaster, lime plaster & plasterboard Walls & Ceilings prior to painting. Apply one coat to a DRY substrate - by Medium pile roller or brush.
Coverage varies according to the type & density of plaster/plasterboard but normally lies in the range 30-50m2 per 5L.
This product can be thinned by the addition of upto 10% water if needed. Drying time 1 - 4 hours.
Distemper
white and 108 colours.
an Ultra-Matt, chalky, non-dusting wipeable resin-bound Distemper for Interior Walls & Ceilings. Traditionally made, using powdered marble.
Normally for use on dry plaster, lime, or plasterboard, but can also be used on most previously painted surfaces - a test area is advisable.
Super-breathability allows the passage of moisture back & forth without hindrance so that the fabric of the building can both dry out or absorb the normal moisture found in a living home without causing flaking or other associated problems: Minimises condensation. Can be diluted with not more than 10% water if needed.
Coverage approx 50/m2/5L per coat (normally 2 coats - med pile roller or brush).
*Non-resoluble - can be overcoated with any normal type of paint.
ClayPaint
white and 108 colours.
a super-dry, soft & mellow chalky ClayPaint for bare DRY plaster, lime & plasterboard.
Made with kaolin, smectite & bentonite clays as well as powdered marble for Interior Walls & Ceilings. Not ideal for use on previously painted surfaces, but can be
overcoated with any normal type of paint. Non-dusting & wipeable; super-breathable, easy to apply. Minimises condensation.
Can be diluted with upto 10% water if needed: - apply by medium pile roller or brush.
Coverage approx 50m2/5L per coat (normally 2 coats).
*Non-resoluble - can be overcoated with any normal type of paint.
Limewash
white and 108 colours.
Ecos Limewash - Durable, super-breathable reinforced limewash. Ready-to-use in White & 108 premixed colours. Inherently resistant to fungal, algal & bacterial growth. All Limewash is super-matt, slightly chalky & uneven in appearance & this is a part of it’s natural charm & character.
For all suitable POROUS Interior and Exterior walls - bare Plaster, Lime Plaster, Lime Render, Limewash, Cob, Stucco, Wattle & Daub, Breezeblock, concrete blocks, cement render, porous Stone & porous Brickwork etc. *if fillers are used they may show through slightly, but another coat will normally obliterate. Limewash “sets” on exposure to air & carbonates & hardens further over a period of several days.
Coverage relates to porosity, but approx 15-30m2/5L/coat (minimum 2 coats).
NB: - All brands of Limewash are alkaline and can burn eyes & skin – irrigate thoroughly & wash off splashes with water immediately. Limewash cannot be colour-matched.
Ecos Insulating Matt Wallpaint – for internal walls & ceilings
White & 76 Colours.
This energy-saving decorative super-matt wallpaint insulates the walls & ceilings in your home, saving you money on energy bills year on year, every day, 24 hrs per day.
The average UK energy bill is currently in excess of £1000 per year* & our energy bills are set to increase well above inflation as we are all urged to reduce our energy requirements, & minimize our carbon footprint as carbon-offset measures & legislation such as the new Climate Change Levy come into full play.
Potential Savings –
insulating efficiency is normally expressed in R values, but this is more relevant to thick layers (ie foam, cavity wall insulations, etc) & the testing methods are not really appropriate to thin paint layers. The generally accepted efficiencies for insulating paints varies considerably, but are widely considered to lie in the range between 10-30%, so even at the lower end of these energy savings, this Insulating Wallpaint – given the average household energy bill of £1000+ will actually pay for itself in a very short timescale.
In addition, in the summer months, this insulating wallpaint will keep your home cooler & studies have shown reductions of between 5 – 8 degrees Celsius averaged over a 90 day period between coated & plain uncoated buildings.

ECOS FENG SHUI HARM0NIZING FINISH MULTI-SURFACE COATING
ECOS Feng Shui is a multi-surface coating for walls and woodwork which lends a uniquely harmonious feel to the home. ECOS Feng Shui allows one to bring together and so harmonize the wall areas and woodwork surfaces, giving a discernible calming and unified appearance to a room.
The smooth, shell like surface of ECOS Feng Shui suffuses light gently, further enhancing this effect.
ECOS Feng Shui is ideal for kitchens and bathrooms and can be used on melamine surfaces (but not work-tops). Note: not suited to direct application on lining paper - a pre-coat of ECOS soft sheen is necessary. Bare hard woods - ask for advice.
COLOURS - Available in all of our 108 shades.
ECOS E.M.R - E.L.F RADIATION SHIELDING WALLPAINT
Shielding wallpaint is a permanent wall treatment that gives up to 98% shielding against ELF/VLF/EMR radiations and needs no special equipment or expertise; it gives permanent shielding forever and is intended to be over - painted: the paint colour is dark grey and is not intended to be a decorative finish:- it can be overcoated with any of our wall paints.
ECOS EMR/ELF - (once overpainted) - can also be overcoated with wallpaper.
Coverage - applied with a gloss roller or short pile roller - on a flat non porous surface coverage is approx. 14m² /L per coat:- one 5L can should be sufficient for an "average" sized room (14 x 12 x 8 ft.)
Two medium coats are better than one thick coat for shielding efficiency.
* NB: many competitor's anti-EMR paints cover as little as 3m2 per litre !
For ultimate efficiency, the walls, ceilings and floors should all be painted, but often this is neither possible nor necessary - if you are unsure please ask our Technical Department for advice.
In addition to home use, ECOS ELF EMR wallpaint may also be beneficial in industrial applications - computer rooms, hospital IC units and other facilities where EMR from mobile phones etc is problematic.
Available in 1L and 5L packs. Independently tested by POWERWATCH in 2005 to give 99% shielding of microwave energy at the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz mobile phone bands.
NOTE: most modern TV equipment has an external aerial and so reception is not affected by the use of this paint which can affect reception to indoor TV/radio aerials.
This NEW super - conductive wallpaint uses non toxic nickel pigment to provide a shield against electrical radiations in the home and workplace - and like all ECOS products is entirely odourless and solvent - free.
Electrical radiations - ( ELF/VLF/EMR pollutions) - arise from many sources - mobile phone masts, Tetra masts, overhead electricity pylons, microwave and cellular telephone installations, TV and radio masts, electrical appliances of all sorts including mobile phones, hairdryers, TV and radio sets, mobile masts, refrigerators, cookers, washing machines, computers, etc.and has also been linked to "Geopathic stress." Brick and concrete walls are no barrier to EMR-ELF radiation and next door's TV set or microwave oven could be just feet away from your head!
Electrical AND electromagnetic radiations have been researched for many years as possible causes of ill-health, but remain problematic and contentious - overhead pylons for example, have been linked to childhood leukaemia and lung cancer, but the link is as yet unproven.
Other illnesses which are thought may be linked to ELF OR EMR radiations include; immune system disorders, memory loss, allergies, depression, colonic complaints. ECOS ATMOSPHERE PURIFYING PAINT (worldwide patents pending)
This revolutionary matt wall paint absorbs and neutralizes chemicals and pollutants, solvents and VOC's from the atmosphere in your home down to approx. one part per million. The air in your home can be 70x more polluted than the outdoors - a cocktail of solvents and chemicals like formaldehyde* from sources such as carpets, furnishings, M.D.F. some paints and lacquers, cleaning products, personal products, aerosols etc. The special silicate ingredients in ECOS ATMOSPHERE absorbs and neutralizes those pollutants permanently and is not exhausted within the average redecorating schedules of approx. five years. Unlike air purifying units it requires no power supply, maintenance or filters, simply apply as normal wall paint and when dry, it will absorb pollutants 24 hours a day all year round. ECOS M.D.F. PASSIVATING PRIMER (worldwide patents pending)
For interior M.D.F. chipboard and plywood. M.D.F and other manufactured boards can outgas formaldehyde* and other VOC's into the indoor atmosphere for many months or years.
The special silicate ingredients in ECOS M.D.F. Passivating primer absorbs and permanently neutralizes approx. 99% formaldehyde* and other VOC's down to around one part per million before it can escape into the atmosphere (Gas chromatographic data). This white matt primer can be over coated with ECOS satin or Feng Shui finishes.
Coverage approx. 12M²\L per coat. 1 litre pack.

ECOS SUPER CHALKY DESIGNER WALLPAINT
A novel ultra-matt chalky designer finish. Highly durable, non-dusting, wipeable and super-breathable; not ideal where subjected to very frequent wetting. This paint, due to it's ultra matt finish, gives a very pleasant impression of evenness, softness and enhanced appearance similar to suede or vellum. Ideally suitable for application by roller.
Coverage approx. 50M²/5L per coat.

ECOS ANTI-FORMALDEHYDE RADIATOR PAINT (A.F R.) (Patent pending)
Conventional central heating radiators can offgas large amounts of formaldehyde* and can easily be the largest source of formaldehyde in the home!
The special silicate ingredients in ECOS AFR paint absorbs approx. 98-99% formaldehyde down to around 1ppm before it can offgas into your home or office environment. Available in matt white, this AFR base coat is best finished with ECOS Feng Shui if a coloured finish is required.
Coverage approx. l0M²/L per coat
Note - bare metal - prime with ECOS stainblock, bare cast iron or blast-cleaned metal - ask for advice.

WOOD GLUE
Totally free of solvents, VOC's, formaldehyde etc. for interior woodwork, joinery, laminate flooring, cork tiles, ply, chipboard, (also concrete, card, paper, etc). Not for oily woods (such as teak) or asphalt or oily surfaces. Coverage approx. 4 square metres per litre.
WATER BASED STAINBLOCK (WHITE)
Highly effective for concealing and blocking out difficult stains such as rusted metal, rust staining, tannins from hard woods (oak, mahogany, etc.), water stains on (for example) plaster walls and ceilings from leaking gutters, cisterns, roofs, etc. and many other "difficult to get rid of" stains. *NOTE- Will not block oily/tarry stains such as asphalt or those from coal fires. Coverage approx. 10 square metres per litre. per coat, (2 coats normally needed). Not ideal for exterior bare cast iron - please ask for advice.
SEALER FOR STONE and TILE FLOORS AND WORKTOPS
This odourless, solvent-free non-toxic sealer helps to protect plain or rough stone and tile floors, worktops, splash backs such as terracotta, slate, limestone, marble, sandstone, reconstituted stone and tiles and also the cement/grout used to install these.
It does not noticeably alter the colour and appearance of the surface.
It is non-shiny and not ideally suited to polished stone. It sheds water and mud and helps to protect against most food and drink stains including tea, coffee, red wine, cordial, blackcurrant and other fruit juice, milk, sauces, curry, ketchup etc.
IMPORTANT: For best effect clean up spills immediately.
NOTE: This product offers only minimal protection against oily/greasy stains. Coverage is highly dependent on the surface treated, but usually lies in the range 5-14 square metres per litre
Cover Up Wall Paint
This Superior Matt Wallpaint is specially formulated to conceal and hide minor to moderate surface imperfections & fill hairline cracks on interior Walls & Ceilings. It does this by eradicating reflectance from the surface to which it is applied & is very effective at masking such unsightly surfaces, giving a very pleasing soft, even & Flat architectural appearance. NB – application by roller. Coverage is approx. 50m2/5L per coat. White & 108 colours.
Fire Retardent Wallpaint
This matt flame/fire retardent wallpaint attains a class 1 (A) rating to ASTM E-84.
This is the best possible rating achievable and makes this paint suitable for the most demanding applications including use in enclosed vertical exitways.

Although ASTM and B.S. test methods are not identical, this rating equates to B.S.476:7 Class 1

Molecular Sieve Silicate
Molecular sieves sound like "something from science fiction" but in fact, they are very real and have many and varied industrial uses. In general, they look like - and are like - clay or ceramic powders and pellets. They are available in many different types, - some absorb water, some absorb VOC's (volatile organic compounds), some do both. The molecular sieves we utilize absorb VOC's preferentially to water and water does not impede their efficiency.
NB - unlike Photocatalytic purifying paints - which need light to work - ours need no light & works 24 hrs round the clock.
They are entirely non-toxic.
They absorb and neutralize VOC's - solvents, pollutants, etc - FOR EVER and once absorbed the VOC is harmless. How is this done?
On a molecular level the molecular sieve structure is like a long donut or a strand of macaroni - a tiny tube.
The VOC molecule can fit inside this tube, but once inside, it's size and molecular vibrations prevent it from escaping again. Small molecules like nitrogen, oxygen etc. can pass through this tube unimpeded. On a macro scale this means that molecular sieves are very efficient at removing VOC's organic gases, toxins, solvents, pollutants etc from the airspace in which they are placed and once absorbed, these VOC's are removed and rendered entirely harmless for ever!
Due to their unique crystalline structure and amazing properties, these molecular sieves are also VERY expensive!. The various molecular sieves available show differing propensities for different situations and applications and so are chosen accordingly. Disposal - the molecular sieve products we supply are entirely non-toxic and can be disposed of in normal household waste.
